Advancing Macomb Announces Organizations Selected For Nonprofit Accelerator Program

Posted on April 17, 2025

Advancing Macomb has officially launched its first-ever Nonprofit Accelerator Program and welcomes the following organizations into a unique initiative aimed at strengthening Macomb County’s nonprofit sector.

The inaugural cohort includes:

  • Autism Society of Greater Detroit
  • Blessing Bags Brigade of Michigan
  • Elms Family and Community Services
  • Ellington Grace Foundation
  • PSI – Michigan
  • The FRIENDS of the Harrison Township Public Library
  • Trinity Community Care
  • TrueLife Academy, Inc.
  • WHEAT INC.

The four-month program runs from March through June 2025 and is designed to equip nonprofit leaders with the tools, knowledge and support they need to grow their impact. From financial planning and board development to public relations and advocacy, participants will explore a wide range of essential topics through expert-led online and in-person sessions.

“Advancing Macomb is thrilled to welcome these outstanding organizations into the Nonprofit Accelerator,” said Phil Gilchrist, executive director of Advancing Macomb. “Each of these nonprofits plays a critical role in strengthening our community. This program is designed to help them maximize their impact for years to come.”

Participants are also paired with seasoned mentors who provide ongoing guidance throughout the program. These mentors help organizations apply what they’ve learned and navigate challenges unique to their missions.

The Accelerator is offered at no cost to participating organizations. Priority is given to BIPOC-led nonprofits and those serving ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) populations in Macomb County. The next cohort is slated for Fall 2025, with applications opening this summer.
