Advancing Macomb is thrilled to announce the launch of our new Capacity Building Grant Program, made possible by a generous partnership with Huntington.
Starting May 1, 2025, small and growing nonprofits in Macomb County can apply for grants of up to $5,000. These grants are designed to help organizations serving low- and moderate-income areas or serving low- and moderate-income individuals in Macomb County.
The Capacity Building Grant Program is designed to help nonprofits strengthen their ability to fulfill their mission, serve their communities and navigate challenges with greater resilience. Grants can be used for behind-the-scenes improvements like organizational development, financial management, technology upgrades, staff and board training, and marketing and communications.
“Smaller nonprofits often face barriers to securing funding for behind-the-scenes improvements that are essential to long-term success,” said Phil Gilchrist, executive director of Advancing Macomb. “This program aims to fill that gap by investing in the internal strength of organizations doing critical work in our community.”
“At Huntington, we believe that building strong communities starts with supporting the organizations doing the work on the ground every day,” said Mike Land, Huntington Regional President. “We’re proud to partner with Advancing Macomb to help small nonprofits build capacity, expand their reach and increase their impact. This program reflects our purpose to make lives better, because when local organizations thrive, the entire community benefits.”
