It’s hard to believe we’re nearing the end of January already!

This is an inspiring time for all of us at Advancing Macomb as we continue the great work of last year and embark on new initiatives in support of our 2023 priorities – to improve the quality of life and economic vitality in Macomb County, to advocate for solutions to community challenges, and to ignite a culture of philanthropy in Macomb County.

Lofty goals, indeed. But with the support of our board, community partners and friends like you, we can get it done.

Here is a preview of some of our upcoming initiatives:

 Community Summit and Townhall Series

Advancing Macomb will kick-start the year with a Community Summit and Townhall series at Macomb Community College this spring. Our summit will bring together Macomb County stakeholders – including businesses, government agencies and community organizations – to talk about the county’s most pressing needs and where we need to focus our efforts for lasting impact. After the initial large-scale kickoff, we will travel to individual communities throughout Macomb County for more in-depth discussions on needs and opportunities. Stay tuned for more details.

Breaking Barriers to Play Initiative

Advancing Macomb will expand our Breaking Barriers to Play initiative throughout Macomb County in 2023. Breaking Barriers to Play – a public-private, cost-sharing recreation partnership – provides the young people in our communities with recreational activities, close to home, at little to no cost. Last year, Advancing Macomb was awarded a $50,000 grant from Project Play and the William Davidson Foundation to support this inspiring initiative in 2023.

Macomb Nonprofit Roundtable Series

The Advancing Macomb Nonprofit Roundtable will continue in 2023. More than 80 organizations participate in this monthly roundtable series, which connects local nonprofit organizations with resources, including training and funding, and opportunities for idea sharing and collaboration. Summer Soirée at Jimmy John’s Field

Mark your calendar! We invite you to join us for our seventh annual Summer Soirée event at Jimmy John’s Field on June 21, 2023. This fun evening features networking, a strolling dinner and an opportunity to join in conversations about Advancing Macomb’s bold vision for the future. This is the second year the event will be held at Jimmy John’s Field – a move that symbolizes the growth and progress of Advancing Macomb.
