Michigan Business Awards 2017

Posted on February 27, 2017

Nearly 400 people gathered for the 5th Annual Macomb Business Awards on February 14th. An event designed to celebrate innovative, forward-thinking and community-minded businesses throughout Macomb County, it’s also a great event to meet local business leaders.

Developed by a keen interest to show businesses that their investment in Macomb County was important, the event is coordinated by the Macomb County Department of Planning & Economic Development.

There are many moving pieces involved in coordinating one of Macomb County’s largest gatherings of business leaders. First, gaining the support of sponsors is critical for ensuring that all direct expenses of the event are covered. With a budget of more than $25,000, these expenses include:

  • Complimentary breakfast for each of the nominees, there were 52 this year
  • Exciting video montages are created to showcase three finalists in each of six categories
  • Promotional videos created for each of the 18 finalists
  • Impressive crystal awards are presented to recipients in six categories as well as the special “Economic Development Partner of the Year” and “Don Morandini Beacon of Economic Development” awards
  • And other incidentals that help to create a welcoming environment for guests

Each of the six categories are based on ideals that the Macomb County Planning and Economic Development Department identified as contributors to the overall success of an organization and, as a result, our entire community. Those categories are:

  • Champion of Workforce Development
  • Corporate Citizen
  • Diversification Leader
  • Efficiency Expert
  • Model of One Macomb
  • Startup Business to Watch

More Information about the event and this year’s awardees can be found on the County’s website.
