Mount Clemens is participating in a pilot program to increase recreation and sports equipment access for children to be active. According to the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit, one of the partners in the program, SportPort powered by the Y on the Fly mobile program is bringing sport and recreation equipment to specific sites throughout the year across Southeast Michigan to encourage free play and sports sampling. This program kicks off with the Y on the Fly coming to the Jermaine Jackson Community Center at 58 Orchard Street on Thursdays from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. YMCA staff will be on hand with sports equipment during that time to promote safe and free play. More developments in this program will be announced soon.
