Advancing Macomb has created a weekly virtual roundtable for executives of social impact nonprofit organizations that serve individuals, families and organizations in Macomb County. The goal of this meeting is to provide a needed platform for collaboration among these nonprofits.
Started in April, during the public health crisis and stay at home order, this weekly call allows group members to learn what others are doing, share an open, honest discussion about challenges and ideas, find opportunities for collaboration, request assistance and network with others facing similar struggles.
The information discussed also gives Advancing Macomb feedback about where to channel resources and fill gaps in support of the nonprofit infrastructure in Macomb County during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond.
Executives from organizations such as: MyCare Health Center, Turning Point, CARE, Anton Art Center, Hearts for Homes, Leadership Macomb, Winning Futures, Single Family Living, MORC, Live Rite Structured Recovery Corp., Clinton River Watershed Council and more have already been participating.
Members are encouraged to suggest future topic ideas and have already expressed interest in learning more about grant writing, collaboration opportunities, funding opportunities, and donor engagement. To address these issues, guest speakers are also invited to participate. Recent calls have featured Ernest Cawvey, Director of Macomb Community Action, who spoke about the county’s COVID-19 response efforts in helping vulnerable populations and Rachel Decker, Founder and President of Detroit Philanthropy, about trends in fundraising during the current crisis and an overview of her fundraising consulting offerings.
