DNEM is honored to prevent a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility presentation during National Disability Employment Awareness Month. DNEM Staff will be on-hand to answer employment questions and provide Assistive Technology demonstrations.

This 75-minute presentation will highlight the following topics:

1. History of the Independent Living Movement
2. Progression from Medical Model to Person-First Language
3. Recommended Vocabulary Modifications
4. Celebrating the ADA and Future Needs
5. Recognizing Accommodation Requests

Observed each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities past and present and showcases supportive, inclusive employment policies and practices that benefit employers and employees. The theme for 2023 is “Advancing Access and Equity.”
