Join us at the Mount Clemens Public Library to learn some simple tools to ensure your strategic planning process yields usable outcomes in this workshop. 90 minute session (1:00 – 2:30 pm)

Please bring mission/vision/values and available important metrics from your organization, and plan to work on a real-world example from your existing or future nonprofit.

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  1. Identify common challenges in the strategic planning process.
  2. Establish methods to improve the process.
  3. Articulate the difference between traditional “waterfall” approaches to strategic planning and lean portfolio management concepts, leverage rolling planning waves.
  4. Draft a vision statement for a portfolio planning cycle.
  5. Identify smart goals and key metrics through logic model or influence diagram approaches.
  6. Establish robust planning parameters by tying resources to initiatives.
  7. Draft a baseline dashboard/scorecard that can be used to guide the strategic plan, and frame decisions along the way.

Presenter: As the principal of BridgeBuilding Strategies, Colleen Thompson helps small business and nonprofit leaders articulate their strategy, upskill their teams, and support them through simple repeatable processes. She leverages her experience as executive with an automotive OEM, where she launched many winning products and built several Program Management Office (PMO) structures, including two internal startups for both Digital and Energy products.  She also served as DEI Executive Lead for her function.

Colleen provides strategic planning, data visualization/dashboard development, business coaching, board facilitation,  and grant writing services, leveraging her experience as an experienced automotive executive.
