Democratic Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel began the bulk of the address with the theme of partnership being the No. 1 tool to get things done....A new community impact fund in the 2025 budget will see the county work with Advancing Macomb to target grants and philanthropic dollars for nonprofit development, parks and public spaces, small business innovation, senior citizen advocacy and childhood achievement....

Macomb County partnership with Advancing Macomb bolsters local nonprofit organizations

Momentum, October 2024 - In June 2024, it was announced that MCPED (Macomb County Planning and Economic Development) had partnered with Advancing Macomb, a 501c3 that convenes resources to solve community challenges and enrich the lives of Macomb County residents, to provide resource navigation and technical assistance for local nonprofit organizations. Through the agreement, Advancing Macomb will serve as a bridge, connecting 501c3 charitable organizations in Macomb County with a wide range of local, regional, and statewide programs and services.

Nonprofit Spotlight: Dutton Farm

Through the Nonprofit Spotlight series, Advancing Macomb highlights the work of a Macomb County-based nonprofit. This month, we feature Dutton Farm. In 2010, Michelle and Jim Smither and their daughter Jenny Brown started Dutton Farm to create opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. They were inspired by their daughter and sister, Rebecca "Becca." Today, Dutton Farm serves over 150 individuals through two locations in Rochester and Sterling Heights and has become a light of hope for those they serve.

The event will offer practical strategies and valuable tools to help attendees better engage with their communities. Attendees will also learn why community engagement is essential for achieving success in community development, improving quality of life and encouraging greater economic growth.
