Business, government and nonprofit leaders gathered at Jimmy John’s Field on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 for Advancing Macomb’s sixth annual Summer Soirée event. Titled “Field of Dreams,” the evening featured networking, a strolling dinner and an opportunity to learn about Advancing Macomb’s bold vision for the future. This is the first year the event was held at Jimmy John’s Field – a move that symbolizes the recent growth and progress of Advancing Macomb.

Advancing Macomb recently commissioned a study with the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University to better understand the disconnect between philanthropic need and opportunity in Macomb County. The study finds that despite ranking third in population, Macomb County ranks last in metro Detroit and Michigan for the number of charitable nonprofits per GDP.

Third Largest County in Michigan Ranks Last for Nonprofits, According to New Study Mt. Clemens, Mich. (April 14, 2022) – Despite ranking third in population, Macomb County lags behind every peer group both in metro Detroit and Michigan for the number of charitable nonprofits per GDP, according to new research commissioned by Advancing Macomb, a 501c3 that convenes resources to solve community challenges and enrich the lives of Macomb County residents.

Crain's Detroit Business - "Macomb County trails other counties in the region in the number of charitable nonprofits and the money they are able to take in, according to a new report from the Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University. Advancing Macomb and several area nonprofits were able to highlight their organizations to a new audience at the Growing Your Network by Giving Back event at The CoLABorative in downtown Mount Clemens on February 16. The session brought members of the co-working space along with other small business from a local business network group together with the nonprofits for speed networking.
