That was the question at the heart of Tuesday’s roundtable discussion with Michigan’s Chief Growth Officer Hilary Doe, Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel and members from Connect Macomb held at Velocity in Sterling Heights. “I think it went great,” said Doe, whose team from the state’s newly established Growth Office has been traveling the state to highlight and amplify ways regions have incorporated growth priorities. “The diversity of experience within the group was really helpful.”

Macomb Daily, June 29, 2024 - Advancing Macomb has the backing it needs to launch a new initiative. The Ralph C. Wilson Foundation has awarded the nonprofit group that convenes resources to solve community challenges and enrich the lives of Macomb County through charitable organizations and philanthropic investments a $600,000 grant to establish a nonprofit incubator program and enhance its internal capacity. “Listening to nonprofit leaders throughout Macomb County has provided us with direction and information on the challenges they face,” Phil Gilchrist, executive director of Advancing Macomb said, in a news release.

DBusiness June 6, 2024 - Advancing Macomb in Mount Clemens, a 501(c)(3) that convenes resources to solve community challenges and enrich the lives of Macomb County residents, has been granted $600,000 by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation. The grant, distributed over three years, will enable Advancing Macomb to establish a nonprofit incubator and significantly enhance its internal capacity. The nonprofit incubator is designed to provide small, new, and emerging Macomb County nonprofits with the practical skills and knowledge necessary for effective operations. The six-month program will cover fiscal management, marketing, public relations, fundraising and grant writing. A pilot cohort for the program is expected to launch in late 2024 or early 2025, creating a support system to help ensure the long-term success of local nonprofits.
