Advancing Macomb Hosts Third Annual Community Engagement Summit

Mount Clemens, Mich. (Sept. 2, 2025) – Advancing Macomb, a 501c3 that convenes resources to solve community challenges and enrich the lives of Macomb County residents, will host its third annual Community Engagement Summit, presented by First State Bank, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the John Lewis Community Center at Macomb Community College in Warren, Mich. The half-day event will bring together business, civic and nonprofit leaders for a morning of networking, collaboration and learning, aimed at inspiring action and building partnerships while exploring best practices for community engagement.

Advancing Macomb Awards $45,000 to Strengthen Local Nonprofits

Advancing Macomb is proud to support Macomb County communities by helping to strengthen local non-profit organizations. Through its new Capacity Building Grant Program, Advancing Macomb has awarded $45,000 to 13 small and growing nonprofits making a meaningful difference. Launched this spring in partnership with Huntington Bank, the program supports nonprofits serving low- to moderate-income communities in Macomb County by providing one-time grants of up to $5,000. These funds help organizations improve operations, strengthen leadership and expand their reach – ensuring long-term sustainability and greater impact.

Macomb Daily, July 13, 2025 - One of the ways Advancing Macomb fulfills its mission to solve community challenges and enrich the lives of Macomb County residents is through its Capacity Building Grant Program supported by Huntington National Bank. This past week the program awarded $45,000 in grants to more than a dozen nonprofits. “We’re proud to support this group of dedicated nonprofits that are making a meaningful impact in Macomb County,” said Phil Gilchrist, executive director of Advancing Macomb, in a news release.

Macomb Daily, May 4, 2025 - Small and growing nonprofit organizations in Macomb County are encouraged to apply for Advancing Macomb’s Capacity Building Grant Program, a new initiative that aims to help charities fulfill their mission. “Smaller nonprofits often face barriers to securing funding for behind-the-scenes improvements that are essential to long-term success,” said Phil Gilchrist, executive director of Advancing Macomb, which convenes resources to solve community challenges and enrich the lives of Macomb county residents. “This program aims to fill that gap by investing in the internal strength of organizations doing critical work in our community.”
