On a warm summer evening in northern Macomb County, nearly 150 business, civic and nonprofit leaders from throughout the county gathered to network and celebrate Advancing Macomb's recent accomplishments and its renewed vision and commitment to the future. Attendees were also introduced to the new executive director, Phil Gilchrist. The Summer Soirée, an annual tradition for Advancing Macomb, was held for the first time at Youngblood Vineyard in Ray, Mich.

DBusiness June 6, 2024 - Advancing Macomb in Mount Clemens, a 501(c)(3) that convenes resources to solve community challenges and enrich the lives of Macomb County residents, has been granted $600,000 by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation. The grant, distributed over three years, will enable Advancing Macomb to establish a nonprofit incubator and significantly enhance its internal capacity. The nonprofit incubator is designed to provide small, new, and emerging Macomb County nonprofits with the practical skills and knowledge necessary for effective operations. The six-month program will cover fiscal management, marketing, public relations, fundraising and grant writing. A pilot cohort for the program is expected to launch in late 2024 or early 2025, creating a support system to help ensure the long-term success of local nonprofits.

Benjamin Orjada is a proud and active member of Macomb County Pride. He describes the organization as an amazing community of individuals working together to drive meaningful and lasting change for the better in Macomb County. Macomb County Pride was established in 2019 by a dedicated group of volunteers aiming to create a supportive environment for the LGBTQ+ community and serve as a resource in Macomb County.

Macomb Daily May 20, 2024 - Macomb is the third largest county in the state but it lags behind others in southwest Michigan in terms of the number of its charitable nonprofits and philanthropic investments. A new partnership approved by the county’s 2024 budget aims to change that. Advancing Macomb announced it has partnered with Macomb County Planning and Economic Development (MCPED) to provide resource navigation and technical assistance for local nonprofit organizations in the coming year. Helping to make that happen is $50,000 approved by the county.

These include opportunities such as available grant programs, volunteers, in-kind professional services, data, marketing and planning services, all designed to enhance the capabilities of nonprofit organizations.
