Macomb County Ranks Last for Nonprofits, According to New Advancing Macomb Study

Advancing Macomb recently commissioned a study with the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University to better understand the disconnect between philanthropic need and opportunity in Macomb County. The study finds that despite ranking third in population, Macomb County ranks last in metro Detroit and Michigan for the number of charitable nonprofits per GDP.

(April 14, 2022) – Despite ranking third in population, Macomb County lags behind every peer group both in metro Detroit and Michigan for the number of charitable nonprofits per GDP, according to new research commissioned by Advancing Macomb, a 501c3 that convenes resources to solve community challenges and enrich the lives of Macomb County residents.

The session brought members of the co-working space along with other small business from a local business network group together with the nonprofits for speed networking.
