Mount Clemens Cairns Center gives youth a place to play after school

Macomb Daily - August 31, 2022 The sounds of children having fun after school — learning how to play basketball or just socializing with other kids in the neighborhood — has returned to Cairns Community Center in Mount Clemens. Three-years ago, after the center was forced to close its doors because of a lack of funding and operating partners, Advancing Macomb went to bat for young people in the community who no longer had a place to play.

GM boosts local community with grants to nonprofits

General Motors awarded $160,000 in community grants to eight local nonprofit organizations (including Advancing Macomb) Wednesday during a special presentation at the GM Technical Center in Warren. The grants are part of GM’s Community Impact Grants program, created in 2010, and are focused on STEM education, vehicle and road safety, community development, and climate equity.

New Community Health Impact awards champion locally-led initiatives

Advancing Macomb receives grant from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund for Breaking Barriers to Play. The Health Fund’s 2022 grantmaking has officially launched—57 Community Health Impact projects are receiving over $4.5 million in support, with grant awards ranging from $34,000 to $100,000. The grants support health-focused, community-driven initiatives taking place in every region of Michigan.
