Advancing Macomb hires Anton Art Center director

Mount Clemens-Clinton-Harrison Journal | Published January 9, 2024 MOUNT CLEMENS — About a quarter of a mile separates the Anton Art Center from Advancing Macomb’s offices in Mount Clemens. The short walk down Macomb Place only takes a few minutes at a solid clip, but few people’s trips match the magnitude of Phil Gilchrist’s. The executive director of the Anton Art Center for eight years, Gilchrist has traded his spot at one nonprofit for another to become the executive director of Advancing Macomb.

Outgoing Art Center director to head up Advancing Macomb

Macomb Daily - December 13, 2023 - "One group’s loss is another group’s gain. Evident by the turn of events over the weekend, including Sunday’s announcement that Phil Gilchrist, who headed the Anton Art Center for the past eight years was leaving to pursue new endeavors, which includes becoming Advancing Macomb’s new executive director. "There are tremendous opportunities for Advancing Macomb to grow and strengthen its nonprofit capacity building and community development efforts,” said Gilchrist. “I am excited to lead Advancing Macomb into this next chapter.”"

Dozens of Macomb County nonprofits receive COVID-19 relief funds

Posted December 11, 2023

Macomb Daily - December 6, 2023 -Nearly 1,400 nonprofits in Michigan, including 46 in Macomb County, have received grant funds from a pool of $35 million to help them survive and thrive as they emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Michigan Nonprofit Association and Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity announced Tuesday the 1,373 recipients of a grant between $5,000 and $25,000 via the MI Nonprofit Relief Fund, which was tasked with dispersing American Rescue Plan Act dollars to nonprofits.
