In his new role, Gilchrist will lead all aspects of Advancing Macomb, including program oversight, financial administration, strategic planning and execution, marketing and public relations.

Dozens of Macomb County nonprofits receive COVID-19 relief funds

Posted December 11, 2023

Macomb Daily - December 6, 2023 -Nearly 1,400 nonprofits in Michigan, including 46 in Macomb County, have received grant funds from a pool of $35 million to help them survive and thrive as they emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Michigan Nonprofit Association and Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity announced Tuesday the 1,373 recipients of a grant between $5,000 and $25,000 via the MI Nonprofit Relief Fund, which was tasked with dispersing American Rescue Plan Act dollars to nonprofits.

Sixteen years later Cairns Community Center has impact in Mount Clemens neighborhood

Macomb Daily, September 12, 2023 - ...The center ceased operations until a few years later when Advancing Macomb went to bat for young people in the community who no longer had a place to play. Following on its mission to provide leadership and resources needed to solve the challenges in the community, Advancing Macomb negotiated an agreement with the City of Mount Clemens to assume ownership and operations from the Mount Clemens Community Schools district. They also secured the $290,000 in funding enabling the city to contract with TCB Youth Mentoring, a nonprofit youth organization dedicated to assisting at-risk youth as the center's new operating partner.
