Advancing Macomb Awarded $1 Million Grant From The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation To Build Pedestrian Bridge Over Clinton River Spillway

Mount Clemens, Mich. (Feb. 22, 2024) – Advancing Macomb, a 501c3 that convenes resources to solve community challenges and enrich the lives of Macomb County residents, was awarded a $1 million grant from the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation to build a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the Clinton River Spillway in Harrison Township.
The grant was awarded in partnership with the Macomb County Department of Planning & Economic Development. It will be added to other funding sources to complete the project. The estimated cost for this project is $3.5 million, and construction is expected to begin this year.

Advancing Macomb benefits from hockey team’s ugly jersey auction

January 27, 2024 - Macomb Daily - Motor City Rockers’ hockey jerseys appear to be a hot commodity.
Even the ugly ones.
That is evident by the donations that the minor league professional hockey team has been making to local charities.
Among the latest recipients is Advancing Macomb, a nonprofit organization that works to solve community challenges and enrich the lives of community members, which received a donation of $1,500 during a home game at Big Boy Arena in Fraser. The donation was garnered through an online auction of jerseys designed to look like ugly Christmas sweaters that players wore during a home game sponsored by Bell’s Brewery.

Sixteen years later Cairns Community Center has impact in Mount Clemens neighborhood

Macomb Daily, September 12, 2023 - ...The center ceased operations until a few years later when Advancing Macomb went to bat for young people in the community who no longer had a place to play.
Following on its mission to provide leadership and resources needed to solve the challenges in the community, Advancing Macomb negotiated an agreement with the City of Mount Clemens to assume ownership and operations from the Mount Clemens Community Schools district. They also secured the $290,000 in funding enabling the city to contract with TCB Youth Mentoring, a nonprofit youth organization dedicated to assisting at-risk youth as the center's new operating partner.
