The Cascade in the Shade crowdfunding campaign is moving in the right direction – it has crossed the halfway point. With the support of over 70 community donors, so far, we are on our way for Shadyside Park in Mount Clemens to gain an exciting year-round play space with an interactive water feature for summer play. Over $24,000 of the $40,000 goal has been raised. However, the campaign deadline of April 30 is fast approaching. The Adaptive Leadership Circle is helping local nonprofit leaders strengthen their skills to increase resiliency at their organizations. Advancing Macomb is partnering with EmcArts, a national service organization that works alongside individuals, organizations and communities as they tackle their most complex challenges to offer a six-month peer cohort that uses a collaborative approach to improve organizational resiliency in the face of COVID-19’s constant disruptive change.

We are proud to share that our Cascade in the Shade project was selected as a Play Everywhere Design Challenge grantee. The project will create an interactive water feature that will transform an everyday space and help infuse more equitable play opportunities in Mount Clemens.

Advancing Macomb’s focus on being a conduit for resources and collaboration was amplified by the challenges of 2020. From partnering with the county on the distribution of CARES Act funding and encouraging collaboration in the nonprofit sector to increasing access to youth sports in at-risk communities, Advancing Macomb played a critical role in convening high impact solutions this last year.

Save the Date for Advancing Macomb’s Annual Meeting on November 18, 2020 at 9:00 am. Our theme this year is: Building a Culture of Giving. We will be joined by Mariam Noland, President of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Michigan to discuss how we can encourage and build a philanthropic culture in Macomb County.
