Advancing Macomb has hit the ground pedaling in 2017 with the great success of Macomb County’s East Side Bike Drive bike collection. As the first-ever county-wide bike drive, we are all immensely grateful for everyone who made phase one possible. From our members, partners and volunteers to the cities and townships who provided collection points throughout the county. From inception to collection, the community spirit rose with great enthusiasm throughout and around Macomb County. Phase one yielded 800 bikes from eight communities across the county.

The Clinton River Watershed Council (CRWC), in partnership with the City of Mount Clemens and Macomb County, announce the kickoff of a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to install a universally accessible kayak and canoe launch at MacArthur Park located downtown Mount Clemens.

Between the collision shops, machine supply outlets, used auto sales and vacant lots at Utica Road and Gratiot in Roseville, a bit of history lingers beneath the surface. You can see it in the bright yellow awning of the 68-year-old Chester Boot Shop, the green-and-cream 1927 Art Deco Roseville Theater, and the quaint tea room at Just Delicious Scones.

Advancing Macomb, a civic leadership group, is in the process of hosting its inaugural East Side Bike Drive to collect gently used bicycles for families in need. The weeklong Shelby Township bike drive kicked off Saturday, Oct. 29, and will conclude Nov. 6.

After researching and creating a county asset inventory, the Advancing Macomb Board of Directors conducted several interviews earlier this year to determine top priorities for the county. Manufacturing and manufacturing technology emerged as the driving factor for Macomb’s economic success – within the Detroit Region and globally.
